Ian Kinloch co-leads the Advanced Nanomaterials Group within the Department of Materials and the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester. He holds the RAEng/Morgan Advanced Materials Chair in Carbon, having previously held EPSRC Challenging Engineering and EPSRC/RAEng Research Fellowships. He is currently the Director of Research for the Department of Materials and Deputy Work-package Leader of the Composites Workpackage in the EU Graphene Flagship.
Ian's research follows nanomaterials from their production through to their processing and ultimately to applications. This vertically integrated approach means that the appropriate materials can be processed into the optimum architecture for a given application, enabling new materials to realise their potential.
